Materials and methods

Here is a summary of how I did this project.

To start with it I created a neocities account where I have been adding all the information. This is a free web that offers tools which allow you to create your own web site. It is a clear and easy platform available to everyone.

Then, I created a image map. I have used a Cassiopea map from The Sky Live and added ten sky objects with Free Online Image Map Generator . When I finished, I copied the link given and paste it in a new folder on my neocities dash. To make it work, I used a progammation code from Mapper.js. I have made that if you click on an object it takes you to its analysis. I changed every color's object too.

To follow my project, I had to search the energy spectrum of each object I have put in the map. With Chandra I have search and download the information that contain the spectrum. However, I had to covert it from a tar file to a fits photo with EzyZip. The file we need is the one finished with "_evt2.fits.gz" because is the one that JS9 allows. JS9 is the web where I finally obtain the spectrum. I uploaded the fits photo and I demanded for the energy spectrum. In case this is not accessible, all we have to do is to upload FITS to make tasks avaliable. There are other ways to obtain your spectrum. You can search for it on the scientific literature or you can use Simbad, another astronomical database.

To calculate the area of each spectrum's peak I have used Image Jand to make my hipotesis about which element does every peak contain I have used Hydrogen energies and spectrum. Then I compared my results with some scientific articles I found in Scholar Google.

To analyse a exoplanet I have used The Laboratory of Exoplanets. There are differents 3D models you can see an manipulate. I was told to ask for a exoplanet photo. When I got it, I followed the steps that are in the web and I got some graphs.

To make a graph of my cepheids I have used Cepheids Dr. Fernie, R - rextester, althought I could have done it with excel too.

To make the body of the web I have used a program called ExelearningI put all the information about the project there and when I finished, I exported it and pasted it in my neocities dashboard. Don't worry if all you can not upload all the elements. Find the ones that has problems and upload the others.

During the project I have used excel to do some graphics but I could have use R. Both programms have the same function but they have differences.

  • As professionals, Excel has a simple interface that makes our work easier, but it is not recommended when using it to process databases. On the one hand, the Excel format is not compatible with other programs. On the other hand, Excel often confuses numbers and dates (such as dots and commas). Moreover, the capacity of rows and columns on each page of Excel is limited. There are other progamms like "R", which is a system specially created for the management of large databases. They have an open source version that allows you to work according to your preferences.

To carry out the project I have used excel because the one I manage better.
